Practicalities

The practicalities of this situation are beginning to hit.

We have started to sell our goods and chattels in order to downsize. The first of our goods was sold on eBay today, very quickly: our dining room table and chairs.  Our new home has one which folds away to nothingness.

As a family, we always sit around the table to eat. With our table went the memories of the children growing up, first in high chairs, then booster seats – from no real conversation, to constant chatter, to ‘good’, which is the only response we seem to elicit about a day at school. (It matches  ’can’t remember’ when asking what took place.)

For the next week or so we will have to slum it with no dining room table.

I fell less sorry about the cross trainer sat in the corner – it appeared a week after I had cleared everything out to de-clutter and has sat sulking in the corner, tugging at my conscience ever since. I can’t say I shall be sorry when it’s collected and moves to it’s new life.

This morning a package arrived from our mad, crazy, beautiful artist friend, Julia O’Sullivan, who is based in New Zealand. In it were some beautiful rune stones that she had hand painted. My camera is being borrowed, but once it’s returned I shall share them – they’re lovely. With them came all kinds of good wishes, and they were a lovely symbol of her wishing us well on this new adventure.
